Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing instructional objectives, behavioral strategies, and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals.
- Tutor students in academic subjects, daily life skills, and social skills in both individual and group settings under teacher guidance.
- Monitor students' use and care of equipment to prevent injuries.
- Observe, record, and maintain student files in accordance with Federal, State, and Agency policies.
- Provide assistance in lifting and caring for students, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene.
- Transport students to and from activities or appointments when necessary.
- Continue professional growth through training sessions and workshops.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- Associate's degree, completion of 60 units of college coursework, or a valid Paraprofessional certification (CNA license not required).
- Crisis Intervention Training certifications or ability to obtain within the required timeline.
- American Sign Language (ASL) skills if working with students or staff who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Braille skills if working with students who are blind or visually impaired.
- Must be able to pass FBI and State background checks.
- Complete Defensive Driver Training program if driving on State business.
