About the Role

This is a 9-month, part-time (5 hours per day) para-professional position located at Virgin Valley High School in Mesquite, Nevada. The role supports the educational environment under the supervision of licensed staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed personnel in the delivery of instructional services to students.
  • Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students as directed by the teacher.
  • Help maintain a safe, orderly, and positive classroom environment.
  • Assist with the preparation of instructional materials and classroom set-up.
  • Monitor and supervise students during non-instructional periods (e.g., lunch, recess, transitions).
  • Perform clerical duties such as record-keeping, filing, and photocopying as needed.
  • Assist students with personal care tasks (e.g., toileting, feeding, mobility) when required.
  • Operate and assist students with the use of instructional equipment and technology.
  • Participate in professional development and training sessions as required.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, parents, and students regarding student progress and needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal or designee.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and provide fingerprint clearance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children and adults in a school setting.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow directions, work independently, and manage time effectively.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software applications.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform personal care tasks for students when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children, particularly in an educational or childcare setting.
  • Experience with students who have special needs or disabilities.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in education, psychology, or a related field.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
