Length Of Work Year: 18A (9 months/year, 206 days/year, 5 days/week)

Length of Work Day: 6 hours

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM

About the role

Instructional Assistants support the instructional program by assisting teachers in the classroom and providing direct instruction to students. They also provide support to students with special needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in the classroom
• Provide direct instruction to students
• Support students with special needs
• May work with severely/emotionally disturbed students
• May assist with behavior management
• May provide additional support to teachers

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children
• Experience working with impaired children or adults highly desirable
• Coursework in child development highly desirable
• Possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any equipment/vehicle requiring this license

Requirements

• Pre-qualify by attaching one of the following items:
• [A] Passing score from SJUSD's Proficiency Exam - testing date must be April 2005 to current. No other school districts proficiency exam accepted.
• [B] Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
• [C] OFFICIAL transcripts demonstrating the completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units)
• [D] Proof of an A.A. degree (or higher)
