Schedule

• 9 months per year (206 days/year)
• 5 days per week
• 6-hour work day: Monday–Friday, 8:40 AM–3:25 PM

About the role

Instructional Assistant IIIs support students with severe or emotional disturbances. Candidates should have any combination of experience and training that equips them to perform the duties of the role, particularly in programs for students with learning or communicative handicaps, emotionally disturbed (ED) classes, autism classes, or those assigned to a Behaviorist.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children
• Experience working with impaired children or adults (highly desirable)
• Coursework in child development (highly desirable)
• Possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain, a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire (required in some programs)

Requirements

• Passing the IA Proficiency Test or the CBEST, regardless of educational background
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One of the following:
  • Passing score from San Juan Unified School District’s Proficiency Exam (testing date must be April 2005 or later; no other district’s exam will be accepted). Request a digital test via this Google Form.
  • Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
