About the role

Location: Carriage. Number of openings: 1. Position type: Permanent. Employment type: Part‑time.

Responsibilities

• Instructional Assistant I: previous experience working with groups of children.
• Instructional Assistant II: work with students served in Resource, Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs; run small groups, assist students in large groups in Special Day Class or General Education settings, support teacher needs.
• Instructional Assistant III: support severe/emotionally disturbed students; work with students in ED, autism, or behaviorist‑assigned classes; experience with groups of children, impaired children or adults desirable; coursework in child development desirable.

Requirements

Applicants must attach required documentation to pre‑qualify:

• Non‑Title I sites: High School Diploma or equivalent plus either a passing score on the San Juan Unified School District Proficiency Exam (test date April 2005 to present) or an official passing score on the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST).
• Title I sites: High School Diploma or equivalent plus one of the following: SJUSD Proficiency Exam (April 2005 to present), official CBEST score, official transcripts showing completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units), or proof of an A.A. degree or higher (foreign credentials must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency).

Qualifications

• IA I: List relevant experience; previous experience working with groups of children.
• IA II: Experience relevant to mild/moderate special education settings; ability to run small groups, assist in large groups, support teacher needs.
• IA III: Experience relevant to severe/emotionally disturbed students; experience with groups of children, impaired children or adults highly desirable; coursework in child development highly desirable.

Pay

Salary range: $20.64 – $27.23 per hour (IA III).

Schedule

Work year: 9 months/year, 206 days/year, 5 days/week (Calendars 18A, 18B, 18C).

Work day: 6.5 hours.

Work hours: Monday – Friday, 7:35 AM – 2:15 PM.
