$19.51 – $25.69 per hour (Instructional Assistant II range on the CSEA General Unit Salary Schedule)
Schedule
- 9-month school year (206 days / year)
- 5 days per week, Monday – Friday
- 6-hour work day: 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM
About the Role
Instructional Assistant II – mild/moderate: supports students served in Resource, Learning Handicap, or Communicatively Handicap programs. Typical duties include running small groups, assisting students in large groups in both Special Day Class and General Education settings, and supporting the teacher’s needs.
In some programs, possession of—or willingness and ability to obtain—a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire is required.
Responsibilities
- Run small instructional groups
- Assist students in large-group settings (Special Day Class and General Education)
- Support teacher needs in the classroom
Requirements
- Relevant experience must be listed on the application
- Any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- For Title I sites, pre-qualify by attaching ONE of the following:
- [A] Passing score from SJUSD’s Proficiency Exam (April 2005 or later; no other district’s exam accepted)
- [B] Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
- [C] Official transcripts showing completion of two years of college (48 semester / 60 quarter units)
- [D] Proof of an A.A. degree (or higher)
- Foreign degrees/transcripts must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency by an accredited agency
