Essential Job Functions
- Assumes responsibility to assist the classroom teacher
- Affords assistance in supervision and care of students
- Affords assistance to the teacher in maintaining a safe physical environment
- Affords supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, and outdoor play
- Affords assistance in classroom set up, clean up, and materials preparation
- Affords assistance in arranging, maintaining, cleaning, and securing the classroom
- Establishes good rapport with children
- Affords assistance to the teacher to work with individuals and groups of students
- Affords utilization of respectful individual and responsive care-giving practices with students
- Affords active engagement in meaningful learning activities and experiences throughout class time
- Communicates appropriately with parents and staff and refers all parent questions and concerns pertaining to students to the teacher
- Affords assistance to parent volunteers helping in the classroom
- Treats confidential information about students, staff, and school affairs in a professional and ethical manner
- Affords establishment and maintenance of cooperative, supportive, and effective relationships with all school and parish personnel
- Maintains punctuality and on-time attendance for work
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- To perform essential job functions, Catholics must be willing to make a public profession of faith. Non-Catholic must be willing to sign the Diocese of Phoenix Division of Education and Evangelization Profession of Faith form.
- Affords assistance with indoor and outdoor recreational activities
- Effectively communicates with students, parents, and staff
- Communicates in English at a level sufficient for successful job performance
- Effectively supervises and cares for students in their play and classroom routines
- Mets the physical requirements necessary to perform the assigned duties safely and effectively
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be a high school graduate or GED
- Must participate in Safe Environment (Called to Protect) Training and sign the Code of Ethics Policy
