Instructional Assistant

Performance Responsibilities/Duties

• Works closely with one or a few students on a regular basis in an effort to provide instructional support.
• Serves as a primary instructor for some students, extending instruction after initial teacher presentations.
• Teaches small groups to reinforce instructional material introduced by teachers.
• Listens to students during recitations, readings, and other curriculum activities, guiding and helping them as needed.
• Accompanies students needing to visit the office or school nurse.
• Establishes a supportive and sympathetic relationship with students, maintaining professional boundaries.
• Checks students' work as directed.
• Administers tests and individualized assessments.
• Aids in the maintenance of pupil records.
• Makes and files copies as required.
• Maintains and uses equipment and facilities appropriately.
• Maintains positive public relations with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Attendance is crucial for student success, and this position works 5 days per week from 8:00am - 3:00pm with an hour lunch break.
