Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to implement lesson plans tailored to the needs of primary grade students with a variety of learning challenges.
• Provide individualized assistance to students to reinforce learning concepts and skills.
• Foster a positive and nurturing environment that encourages the growth and development of each student.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive learning space by monitoring student behavior and addressing any challenges.
• Support students with special needs by following and implementing tailored educational plans.
• Assist in classroom organization, setup, and materials preparation.
• Engage in positive communication with students, teachers, and parents to ensure a cohesive support system for student success.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in education or related field is a plus.
• Experience working with children, specifically in primary grades or special education, is highly valued.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, teachers, and parents.
• Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
• Ability to follow instructions, collaborate with educators, and contribute to the educational goals of the classroom.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to the unique needs of students with special needs in a primary grade setting.
• Basic computer skills for tasks such as documentation, communication, and classroom support.

Physical Requirements

• Capable of standing, sitting, and moving around the classroom for extended periods.
• Lift and transport materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Absorb and assist students with physical needs as necessary to facilitate an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

Must pass a Level II background screening.
