About the Role

This position establishes a substitute pool for the 2026/2027 school year, providing coverage at school sites district-wide. On-call as needed Monday through Friday, with working hours varying between 8:15 AM and 2:30 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Listen to and drill students according to instructions and guidance from the teacher.
  • Maintain routine informational and operational records.
  • Prepare, reorder, and distribute audio-visual equipment and instructional supplies.
  • Assemble instructional aide kits.
  • Prepare labels, charts, and displays as instructed.
  • Mount maps, mix paints, and assist in maintaining a neat and orderly room.
  • Score tests.
  • Supervise the work of groups of pupils during recess, lunch, and bus loading and unloading activities.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of good English usage, simple spelling, and arithmetic.
  • Ability to establish a good relationship with young children and communicate with professionals.
  • Ability to serve as a liaison between professionals and parents, helping families share in providing enriching experiences.
  • Ability to collect and maintain family history files, organize discussion meetings, film showings, etc.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work cooperatively with others.
  • Recent experience, paid or volunteer, in working with children (desired).

Qualifications

Failure to provide the following required documents will result in the applicant being screened out:

  • NCLB/ESSA Compliance: AA Degree (or higher) OR 48 college units. A test may be provided for those who do not meet this requirement.
  • Proof of high school graduation (diploma or equivalent).
  • Resume.

If an applicant does not meet the ESSA Compliance requirement at the time of applying, an additional test will be provided to those who are screened in. Passing this test will fulfill the ESSA requirement.

Pay

Single rate: $19.33 per hour.

Schedule

Part-time, 10-month work year.
