Instructional Aide (9-12): General

Position Summary

Aid teachers in monitoring the learning center and supporting students' progress.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED holder
  • Experience working with students or parents, approved by superintendent
  • Work experience in church-related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed daycare centers, or similar settings
  • High school student aged 18 or older with a final grade of 70 or better in two or more specified education and training courses, verified in writing by the district superintendent
  • Courses must cover either Instructional Practices or Practicum in Education and Training, totaling at least three credits
  • 6+ months of experience working in public or private schools (preferred)

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

  • Passion for children
  • Patience and ability to work interactively with children
  • Basic knowledge of federal and state education laws
  • Computer literacy
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn and implement teaching curriculum software programs and instruct students
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Able to travel as necessary

Responsibilities And Duties

  • Assist teacher or coordinator in all areas of work
  • Implement instructional program and lesson plans under supervisor's guidance
  • Assist with understanding assessments
  • Check daily goals to ensure work is completed
  • Motivate students for maximum learning
  • Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops
  • Inspire students with consistency, care, and interest to build self-esteem and promote success
  • Praise students, compliment them, and encourage them to build character
  • Facilitate activities promoting speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English
  • Perform special projects during and after normal business hours, and other duties as assigned
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor
