About the Role

Under general direction, assist in preparing educational materials; may tutor or assist with instruction of individual students or groups of students under guidelines and supervision provided by the classroom teacher.

Pay

Pay Range: $29.90 - $39.87 per hour (Range 21 on the Classified Salary Schedule)

Responsibilities

• Assist the Classroom Teacher in planning the course of study and specific lesson plans
• Tutor individual students or groups of students under the guidance of the classroom teacher
• Supervise individual students or small groups of students in practice activities such as math and spelling drills
• Supervise students at assemblies and programs or during trips
• Auditory and visual monitoring of students both inside the classroom and during outside activities
• Assist students in reviewing homework assignments and test results
• Prepare instructional and visual aids including posters, charts, and stencils
• Arrange for and operate audiovisual equipment

Requirements

• A.A. degree or equivalent required
• Courses in Psychology, Child Growth and Development, or a closely related field preferred
• Satisfactory work history
• Successful experience demonstrating tact, courtesy, positive attitude, and maintaining cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work
