About the role

The Institutional Research Analyst plays a crucial role in transforming institutional data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making in a higher education setting. Key responsibilities include collecting, validating, and analyzing data related to student outcomes, enrollment trends, and academic performance. This role also involves supporting the preparation of internal and external reports for accrediting bodies, government agencies, and institutional leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, validate, and analyze institutional data related to enrollment, student success, faculty productivity, and other key performance indicators.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to communicate institutional metrics effectively.
  • Support the preparation of internal and external reports for accrediting bodies, government agencies, and institutional leadership.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with institutional research standards and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Conduct research on higher education trends, benchmarks, and best practices to inform planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to improve data quality, governance, and reporting processes.
  • Respond to data requests from leadership, faculty, and staff in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Stay current with emerging tools, methodologies, and regulatory changes impacting institutional research and analytics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in institutional research, data analysis, higher education administration, or a related analytical role.
  • Strong statistical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with experience interpreting complex datasets.
  • Proficiency with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, SQL, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with institutional research practices, accreditation standards, and higher education data governance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex data clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Understanding of compliance requirements and reporting standards for state and federal education agencies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively across departments.
