About the role

Install and troubleshoot 12V, 110V, and 3-phase electrical system components. Install aftermarket and OEM vehicle lighting and accessories.

Responsibilities

  • Perform QC repair and rework.
  • Understand and carry out verbal and written directions in English.
  • Maintain close attention to detail.
  • Function with minimal or no supervision.
  • Set work priorities to meet production goals as scheduled per assigned department.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Meet minimum standards of safety, housekeeping, QA, and QC per assigned department.
  • Comply with all rules of conduct and attendance per the company handbook.
  • Ensure hazardous waste is handled appropriately and placed into the proper container(s).
  • Maintain all satellite and storage containers in a closed position unless adding or removing waste.
  • Be familiar with the Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan and spill response procedures, including evacuation routes.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, blueprints, engineering layouts, work orders, and change orders.
  • Ability to read and use linear and other measuring devices, including volt meters and test lights.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical system components.
  • Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Fundamental use of various pneumatic and power tools, including drills and screw guns.
  • Ability to use basic mathematics.
  • General knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Trained in Hazardous Materials Handling Operations with an annual refresher course.
  • Hazardous waste training provided within six months of hire, with annual reviews thereafter.
  • 1 year of experience in automotive electrical installation in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to walk.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to work from various squatting, kneeling, or bending positions.
  • Ability to work with arms above head.
  • Ability to work from ladders or scaffolding.
  • Ability to stand at a workstation for ten hours a day (minus specified breaks).
  • Ability to safely use specified hand, air, power tools, and machinery.
  • Ability to operate and understand all protective safety equipment in the area.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Ability to handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
  • Ability to work in 105-degree heat for excess of ten hours per day.
  • Ability to work in noisy and dusty conditions.

Work Environment

  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Elevated noise level in the work environment.
