Installation Technician

About the role
Pavion and our family of companies are seeking a talented and motivated Installation Technician to join our security business unit. This role involves leading and supporting the repair, maintenance, and installation of Mission Critical systems throughout New England.
Responsibilities
- Take lead on and support repair, maintenance, and general installation of Mission Critical systems, including but not limited to: Security (CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion), A/V, and Wireless Communication.
- Perform low voltage cable installation, cable management, cable terminations, device installation, and other assigned project duties.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair systems and equipment as necessary.
- Produce accurate documentation for projects, including system commissioning reports, test reports, as-builts, and system certification.
- Provide daily project status updates and communication to the Project Management team.
- Summarize, report, and present non-compliant attributes of a project, site, or system.
- Implement security measures to bring projects, sites, or systems into compliance with relevant standards, policies, procedures, or best practices.
- Think clearly and logistically to make accurate decisions based on personal and professional judgment and verifiable criteria.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years’ experience with the installation and commissioning of low voltage/Data Communication systems, including Security (CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion), Audio/Visual, and Wireless Communication.
- MA State D-License (Required for MA Security work).
- Ability to independently lead/manage medium to large-sized Mission Critical projects.
- Ability to read and interpret project scopes, one lines, floor plans, submittals, specifications, installation manuals, test reports, and other related project documentation.
- Proficient in cabling best practices: running, supporting, and terminating category-rated and multiconductor cabling.
- Experience/certified with Fire Stopping; must be able to fire-stop any penetrations made or found.
- General understanding of networking concepts (wired and wireless).
- Demonstrate general skills required to configure and troubleshoot device connectivity (LAN and Internet access).
- Proficient with low voltage crimp tools, testing tools (meters, toners, etc.), and the use of other construction-related tools.
- Demonstrate knowledge of system integration with other systems, hardware, or software.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license required.
- Must be able to travel throughout New England as required (RI, MA, NH, ME).
- Must be able to work off hours if/when projects require it (second, third shift, and weekends).
- Must be able to participate in on-call rotation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Nurse Call systems/equipment.
- OSHA 10 Certifications.
- Experience with the following systems preferred: Genetec, DMP, Avigilon, Hirsch, Bosch, Milestone, Ceragon, Cambium, Siklu.
- Firestop Certified (Hilti or 3M).
- RI TST Data License.
- Boom and scissor Lift Certified.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to see and hear clearly.
- Must be able to distinguish between colors (naturally or with correction); speak clearly; use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects; coordinate eyes and hands rapidly and accurately.
- Must be able to climb and maintain body balance; lift, carry, or push objects weighing up to 50 lbs; crouch, stand, and/or walk carrying equipment for long periods of time.
Pay
The hourly pay range for this position is $40.00–$50.00 per hour. The starting hourly pay will be determined based on qualifications, experience, education, skills, certifications, and internal equity.
