About the role
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Installation Technician to join our team. The standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; however, some evening, weekend, and on-call work may be required based on business needs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide installation and repair services to business customers
- Serve as remote hands for NOC engineers during service activation and troubleshooting
- Install, terminate, test, and repair Category 3, 5, and 5E premise wiring in accordance with TIA-568B standards (including RJ45 connectors, biscuit and wall jacks, 66/110 punch-down blocks)
- Install premise hardware including plywood backboards, conduit, structured cabling, patch panels, UPS, PDU, relay racks, data cabinets, and NEMA boxes
- Install and configure network hardware including switches, routers, firewalls, IP phones, Analog Telephone Adapters, media converters, wireless access points, microwave radios, and dishes
- Climb and work on towers to install, replace, or maintain equipment
- Utilize company software, hardware, and related systems effectively
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule as part of our 24/7 support model
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb towers up to 300 feet while carrying up to 50 lbs., and up to 150 feet while carrying up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs. consistently
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and work in confined or elevated spaces for extended periods
- Ability to distinguish between cable colors
Qualifications
- Current ComTrain (or equivalent) tower climbing certification, or ability to successfully complete ComTrain certification after hire
- Experience testing equipment such as power meters, cable toners, and laptops
- Strong computer proficiency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Able to manage tight deadlines and shifting priorities
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and respond to standby/callout within 60 minutes when required
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1–2 years of experience in the data/communications industry preferred
