Installation Manager

About the Role

Convergint is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Installation Manager to join our team. In this role, you will manage the electrical installation team and/or installation subcontractors, supervising the installation process for Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects. You will ensure projects are delivered effectively and within budgeted cost and time schedules.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of Electrical Installation colleagues, including mentoring, coaching, and developing team members.
• Oversee hiring, planning, assigning work, performance management, project budget, and quality assurance.
• Manage installation subcontractor work as needed.
• Oversee all aspects of electrical installation on assigned projects.
• Act as the primary contact with customers and internal colleagues for electrical installation support and training.
• Provide training and development for Electrical Installers, handling complex issues escalated from less-experienced colleagues.
• Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams; repair equipment using advanced low voltage troubleshooting skills and standard test instruments.
• Ensure safety for Electrical Installers and subcontractors, including annual training, job site safety analysis, proper PPE use, and toolbox talks.
• Maximize customer satisfaction by ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service.
• Take ownership of onsite projects, including safety, quality, and performance, while adhering to Convergint Quality Standards.
• Identify opportunities for improvement in installation methods to enhance profitability and quality.
• Work closely with the Project Manager to plan and schedule installations, recommend scope changes, and improve customer satisfaction.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• Proficient construction skills and understanding of low voltage system drawings.
• Excellent understanding of design drawings, including wiring and labeling methods, system wiring, and cable support.
• Familiarity with drawings, schematics, manuals, and specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted.
• Strong customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong mechanical and low voltage electrical aptitude, including experience with hand and power tools (e.g., drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings; solid math skills (e.g., calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage).
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School/GED or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5+ years of relevant field experience.
• Previous supervisor experience.
• Previous construction experience, including a high level of electrical or low voltage background.
• Experience in one or more of the following industries: electronic security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
• Preferred (but not required): Relevant trade designation (e.g., Electrician).

Pay

Pay range: $80,000–$120,000. Individual pay rates vary depending on job, department, location, skills, experience, certifications, specific licenses, and education.
