Installation and Commissioning Specialist, Grinding

About the role

We are seeking an Installation and Commissioning Specialist, Grinding to join our Global Field Service (GFS) team. You will provide day-to-day advisory support and ensure the performance of grinding equipment/mills installation and commissioning, involving on-site audits, technical troubleshooting, customer training, and detailed service reporting. Your role is crucial for safe and successful customer site execution and customer satisfaction, impacting equipment reliability and long-term customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, building positive working relationships.
• Work at remote customer sites globally for extended periods (high travel requirement).
• Conduct pre-installation audits to assess site conditions, customer readiness, inventory, and installation logistics.
• Provide technical troubleshooting analysis and recommend solutions to field service challenges.
• Submit recommendations, evaluations, expense reports, action reports, and monthly work logs in line with Metso reporting and billing processes.
• Provide field and classroom-based training on service, maintenance, and commissioning for customers and end-user personnel.
• Adhere to safety requirements (including Lock Out/Tag Out) and comply with Metso HSE and site safety guidelines.

Requirements

• Millwright and/or hydraulics certifications are highly desirable.
• Experience providing technical support and service for grinding equipment, mills, and related industrial equipment.
• Nice to have: Supervisory experience.
• Nice to have: Electrical knowledge related to mechanical applications.
• Able to advise customers, engineering firms, and contractors under various working conditions and hours.
• A collaborative communicator who can work technically with Field Sales, Training, Application & Technical Support, and Parts/Support/Engineering teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills in assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair with a clear emphasis on safety.
• Understands HSE policies and procedures and supports adherence at customer sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in the mining, construction, or manufacturing industries.
• Knowledge of metallurgy, mineral processing, and related fields.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
