Install Technician II (onsite)

About the role
The Install Technician II plays a pivotal role in the successful installation and implementation of security systems, ensuring client needs are met with the highest level of quality and professionalism. Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain a wide range of security systems, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and other security technologies.
- Proficiently run and terminate low-voltage cabling, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
- Integrate and troubleshoot various security system components to ensure cohesive functionality.
- Configure and program security equipment (e.g., cameras, access control panels, alarms) according to project specifications and customer requirements.
- Perform system tests and inspections to ensure installed systems operate efficiently and meet quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of installation activities, including wiring diagrams, configuration settings, and project documentation.
- Provide training and technical support to clients on system operation and functionality.
- Adhere to safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards during installation projects.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues with security systems, minimizing disruption to clients' operations.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and team members to execute installation projects within timelines and budgets.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electronics or a related field is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience installing and maintaining security systems (access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection) on projects under $100K.
- 1–2 product-specific certifications (e.g., Lenel S2, Avigilon, Milestone, CCure 9000, Software House, AMAG) are helpful.
- Industry-specific certifications desired; must obtain applicable state/local licenses as required by law.
- Intimate knowledge of field hardware and ability to read design drawings, PWS, requirements documents, and life safety/building codes.
- Ability to discern when escalated support is needed and communicate effectively.
- Frequently lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Vision abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- May require Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hard hat, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, or safety vest.
- Solid construction skills and understanding of system plans, blueprints, wiring methods, cut sheets, and cable support installation (J-Hook, Raceway, Conduit).
- Familiarity with blueprints, schematics, manuals, and specifications to determine installation procedures.
- Strong customer focus, mechanical/electrical aptitude, and ability to work with hand/power tools (e.g., drill, screwdriver, wire stripper).
- Solid math skills (e.g., calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage) and verbal/written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- United States citizenship and an active driver’s license.
- This position requires a Top Secret/SCI security clearance. Convergint Federal will sponsor the required clearance, but maintenance is the colleague’s responsibility.
- Travel: 25%.

Pay
Hourly range: $29/hr to $38/hr.
