About the role
Fox Valley Tool & Die is seeking a 1st shift Inspector to join their team. The primary responsibility is to inspect incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure they meet required specifications and customer standards.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate quality of materials or products.
- Monitor inspection operations or equipment to ensure conformance to specifications, making necessary process or assembly adjustments.
- Approve or reject incoming materials based upon conformance to specifications.
- Approve in-process production and finished products by confirming specifications.
- Approve parts for shipment to customers by completing final operation on job traveler.
- Communicate to machinist if features do not conform to specifications on prints.
- Communicate with appropriate personnel for return of unacceptable materials.
- Consult Project Managers with any problems regarding specifications of finished product.
- Ensure documentation is complete and meets customer’s requirements including proper storage of files in computer system.
- Read blueprints, data, manuals, or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment methods, certification processes, formulas, or measuring instruments required.
- Clean, maintain, calibrate, or repair measuring instruments or test equipment, such as dial indicators, fixed gauges, or height gauges.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
- Capable of lifting at least 20 lbs.
- Support the company’s quality policy through compliance with quality management system requirements.
- Willing to work extra hours when needed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in quality or technical degree in Machine tool preferred.
- Two-years Quality Control experience preferred.
- Thorough and working knowledge of measurement instruments specific to the machine tool industry.
- Experience with inspection technology and programs.
- Zeiss Calypso or CMM Software experience preferred (not required).
