Inspector (Northern CA)

Responsibilities

• Visits construction sites and inspects each stage of construction up to completion.
• Interpret plans, specifications, and codes and verify conformance of contract work.
• Prepares daily reports on labor, material, and equipment on site.
• Affords assistance in obtaining approved designs and permits from utility companies for services to construction sites, as necessary.
• Determines whether construction conforms to plans and specifications, or prepares Non-Conformance Reports for corrective action.
• Reviews or prepares interim progress reports for contractor payments.
• Maintains, supports, and promotes a safe work environment while complying with the project's safety rules, policies, and procedures.
• Monitors construction sites for safety violations.
• Arranges, coordinates, and oversees material testing and/or special inspections such as electrical, mechanical, landscaping, soil testing, concrete, asphalt mixes, and reinforcing steel for conformance to specification requirements.
• Coincides test laboratory activities and compares verification test results from the contractor's laboratory.
• If Senior or Lead Inspector, may allocate inspection resources and supervise inspectors.
• Attends various meetings as needed.
• Performs other duties as may be required.

Qualifications And Experience

• Approximately five (5) years of experience for Associate positions, and approximately ten (10) years of experience for Senior and Lead positions which reflect a progressively increasing level of responsibility on complex projects as a General Contractor, Building Construction Supervisor, Building Inspector of large commercial or industrial construction projects, heavy construction utilities, civil, architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical and trackwork.
• ICC Certificate of Reinforced Concrete Masonry, ACI Registered Construction Inspection License, comparably Deputy Inspection License for a county for the city agency.
• NICET certification or other alternative certification form an acceptable nationally recognized organization is highly desirable, where applicable to the Inspection of that particular trade.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and Cal-OSHA/OSHA 30 training certification, or will obtain certification.
• Able to read plans and have a good understanding of project specifications.
• Must be able to interpret and implement company-mandated safety policies.
