About the role

This position is located in the Operations/Supplier Assurance unit within BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS). It involves inspecting incoming materials and ensuring they meet specified requirements, preventing counterfeit goods, and supporting efficient business and program execution.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming mechanical, electrical, and production material for conformance to purchase order requirements, engineering drawings, and specifications using visual, mechanical, and electrical test methods.
  • Perform basic dimensional inspections using micrometers, calipers, feeler gages, etc.
  • Accept or reject materials or articles; identify and document non-conformance and notify appropriate personnel of potential rejection of items.
  • Refer/document unusual inspection problems to supervisor, lead, or Quality Engineer.
  • Apply/enforce/comprehend accept/reject criteria and revision status from engineering drawings, MIL-specs, screening specs, or process certification training.
  • Maintain inspection records by utilizing many different electronic information systems.
  • May be trained to detect counterfeit parts and prevent them from entering the manufacturing process.
  • Obtain and maintain all process certification required for assigned tasks.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company.
  • Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent plus 1 years or more related experience. Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

Problem-solving ability and good mechanical aptitude. Proficiency using Windows and common Microsoft Office applications. Ability to understand and consistently follow work instructions and checklists. Good physical dexterity and coordination to safely handle parts, color vision/discrimination, and visual acuity for small details (usage of microscopes, etc.). Ability to frequently bend and lift up to 40 pounds occasionally. Ability to communicate clearly with multiple personnel.

Qualifications

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $47614 - $76181. This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
