Inspector I
Leader Ambulance, a Southern California-based manufacturer of Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 ambulances, is part of Terex Corporation, a global designer and manufacturer of specialized vehicles and equipment.
About the role
Ensure that customers, both internal and external, receive the quality ambulance they expect by inspecting the vehicle and reporting any necessary repairs or corrections before delivery.
Responsibilities
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Pay close attention to detail and function with minimal supervision
- Set work priorities to meet production goals
- Apply knowledge of basic 12-volt electricity
- Drive and road test the vehicle
- Perform water testing, fix leaks, and weigh the ambulance
- Provide final cosmetic sign-off of emergency vehicles
- Inspect and function test all vehicles received
- Verify options for orders
- Complete a cosmetic tag
- Perform detailing duties as assigned by the department
- Notify supervisor or lead if encountering maintenance issues
- Meet standards of safety and 5-S requirements
- Promote the use and applications of Lean Manufacturing continuous improvement tools
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English
- Ability to use linear and other types of measuring devices effectively
- Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards
- Ability to recognize expected quality and reproduce it
- Good mechanical ability and understanding of component operation
- Use functional gauging assigned for inspection of vehicles
- Valid Driver’s License
Qualifications
- 0-1 year experience in a QC setting or equivalent experience
- Assembly experience preferred
- Experience with hand tools
Physical Demands
- Perform jobs on ladders
- Regularly required to stand or walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; and reach with hands and arms
- Frequently required to walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
- Work with arms above the head
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to work in noisy and dusty conditions

- Regularly works near moving mechanical parts
- Frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and vibration
- Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
- Production facility environment
