Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections and document findings in support of design improvements.
  • Communicate with design engineers/architects and recommend possible solutions.
  • Interpret specifications, construction drawings, and convey intent to the contractor.
  • Observe construction activity, document daily progress, and report findings.
  • Ensure field data, reports, etc. get saved onto CESO’s server within the appropriate project folder.
  • Coordinate with contractors and CESO Project Manager or Team Lead on project status, schedule, and concerns.
  • Support Engineers and Project Managers in daily planning, coordination, and completion of projects.
  • Perform redline mark-up revisions as directed.
  • Perform routine technical work which does not require previous experience.
  • Pavement: Walk entire site/locations and document findings electronically; photograph, and where necessary, videotape observations; prepare remedy/repair solutions.
  • Oil & Gas: Walk site regularly throughout day and document findings in daily format; watch over all work being performed to ensure compliance; review and advise on traffic/safety concerns.
  • Understand health and safety requirements; attend daily safety meetings and fill out a job hazard analysis form to include in daily report.
  • Gain experience and knowledge in all facets of engineering in both field and office settings including surveying, construction, and design.
  • Learn local, state, and federal laws and regulations and adapt engineering information codes and standards to plan, review, and design of projects.
  • Drive company vehicles to and from work sites.
  • Coordinate and book travel arrangements within company and client travel guidelines.
  • Clean and perform simple maintenance on company vehicles.
  • Record routine work data (e.g., miles driven; expense reporting).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Associate degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) preferred.
  • 0-5 years of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • OSHA 10 Hour Construction and/or Safe Land Certification preferred, or to be obtained upon hire.
  • Fire extinguisher certification preferred, or to be obtained upon hire.
  • Completion of Oil & Gas annual safety training provided by the Company.
  • First Aid & CPR certification preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Bluebeam Revu.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The employee is regularly required to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must have the ability to reach with hands and arms; to use hands for drawing, typing, or handling tools and materials. Ability to communicate effectively in a work environment that has a noise level that varies between moderate to loud. Ability to travel as needed, which may include occasional overnight stays. Must be available to work overtime as required. Must be able to access various project locations, including sites with limited ADA accommodations.
