About the role
The Office of Inspector General serves as an independent investigative authority responsible for identifying, investigating, and resolving misconduct involving fraud, waste, abuse, ethics violations, and corruption. The new Inspector General will report to the City Council.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex investigations involving fraud, ethics, and public corruption
- Manage teams and navigate complex political environments
- Provide ethics education for city officials and staff
- Promote accountability in government
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- 10–15 years of relevant legal experience in investigations, auditing, or public integrity
- Licensed and in good standing with the Texas State Bar at the time of appointment
- Certified Inspector General (CIG) at time of appointment
- Must be a resident of the City of Dallas. If at the time of appointment the inspector general resides outside the City of Dallas, then he or she shall move into the city within a time period required by the City Council.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience leading, or working with, an Inspector General or similar oversight office
- Background in prosecution and ethics enforcement are a plus
Pay
$152,977 – $229,466, depending on experience and qualifications.
