Inspector General
About the role
The City of Dallas is seeking an Inspector General to serve as an independent investigative authority responsible for identifying, investigating, and resolving misconduct involving fraud, waste, abuse, ethics violations, and corruption. The Inspector General will report to the City Council. The ideal candidate will be an experienced member of the Texas Bar with a strong background in investigations, ethics, and public integrity.

- Experienced in investigations involving fraud, ethics, and public corruption
- Skilled in managing teams and navigating complex political environments
- An effective communicator with strong legal and interpersonal expertise
- Excellent at ethics education for city officials and staff
Required qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- 10–15 years of relevant legal experience in investigations, auditing, or public integrity
- Licensed and in good standing with the Texas State Bar at the time of appointment
- Certified Inspector General (CIG) at time of appointment
Preferred qualifications
- Experience leading, or working with, an Inspector General or similar oversight office
- Background in prosecution and ethics enforcement are a plus
Pay
$152,977 - $229,466, depending on experience and qualifications.

Residency requirement
The Inspector General shall be a resident of the City of Dallas. If at the time of appointment, the inspector general resides outside the City of Dallas, then he or she shall move into the city within a time period required by the City Council.
