About the role
This is a Quality Inspector position within the Injection Molding department. The role is a contract position covering a leave of absence for more than 6 months, with the assignment expected to last approximately 1 year.
Responsibilities
- Directly monitor, inspect, and audit the process and product for compliance to specifications.
- Assure integrity of process control systems and detect trends in product quality where applicable.
- Perform complete inspection of product prior to release according to applicable specifications.
- Apply appropriate statistical sampling plans and perform various testing procedures.
- Stat sample or contain all hold products as applicable per the appropriate specification requirements.
- Record results of inspections and audit findings on appropriate forms and/or in the Quality Module of SAP.
- Report all product non-conformance issues to Quality and Production Management where appropriate.
- Maintain adherence to all safety, environmental, and quality system standards.
- Perform all other miscellaneous duties as appropriately directed by Quality Management or designate.
- Follow all site required safety and quality policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma (if hired after June 1, 2000; internal transfers exempted).
- 6 months of QA experience or exposure.
Skills
- Ability to navigate a computer in a Windows-based environment.
- Use of measurement devices such as Calipers, Go/No-Go Gauges, Optical Comparators, Digital Force gauges, and rules.
- An assessment will be applied to gauge proficiency of some of the above requirements.
Pay and schedule
- Pay rate: $16.50/hour plus $1.50 shift differential.
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7pm to 7am, on a 3-days-on, 2-days-off, 2-days-on, 3-days-off rotation, including weekends.
Working conditions and requirements
- Reports directly to the Quality Engineer.
- No supervision of others.
- Drug screening is not required.
- Eye exam is required.
- Background check is required; candidate can start once criminal background checks have cleared.
- Steel toe or composite shoes with non-slip soles are required for all associates while on the production floor.
- Climate-controlled work area.
- Smoke-free campus: smoking and the use of electronic smoking devices, marijuana, or tobacco products are not allowed on BD property, grounds, or in parking areas.
- False eyelashes, press-on fingernails, and jewelry (including dermals) are not allowed on the production floor; any associate wearing dermals must cover them while working on the production floor.
