About the role
This Inside Sales Representative role is hybrid (minimum 3 days a week onsite required) in Charlotte, NC. The position is responsible for professionally representing and promoting Biotage products and services—consumables for small molecule and synthetic therapeutics (SMST)—to a defined customer base of strategic account customers (SAM) within a designated territory. This role may partner with account managers, sales & marketing management, and field service to create a proactive account team that develops, expands, or maximizes sales of Biotage businesses and markets.
Responsibilities
- Achieve defined monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets for a specific geography and product volumes.
- Proactively contact current and new customers related to SMST products to promote, sell, and/or increase consumable revenue.
- Fully utilize the SalesForce.com account and opportunity management platform, ensuring all activities (planned and executed) are captured within the system.
- Support field team members with SalesForce opportunity entry, reporting, and maintenance.
- Manage and own inside sales lead queues and lead follow-up for assigned regions.
- Work with the SAM manager, customer service manager, and channel partners on pricing, strategy, and discrepancies.
- Maintain up-to-date account data, including account status, user/contact details, and system/consumable purchasing history for all accounts and prospective accounts in the assigned territory.
- Follow up on and qualify leads in a timely manner, documenting results in SalesForce.
- Engage with Biotage peers from sales and other functions to leverage skills and knowledge, understand and exploit new and existing business, and follow up on identified opportunities.
- Support customers with demos (virtual or live), literature and sample requests, and product quotations.
- Handle instrumentation demos, quotes, and other administrative support.
- Develop and maintain a clear understanding of the operation, use, and competitive advantage of products within areas of responsibility.
- Develop a strong working knowledge of SMST products (e.g., Sfär columns, microwave vials, workup products, Peptiren, Peptipec).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related science field preferred.
- 1+ years of experience and/or training in a field or inside sales position is preferred but not required.
- 1+ years of experience with either organic or peptide synthesis is preferred but not required.
