About the role
As an Inside Sales Representative, you will sell to clients in an office environment primarily through phone calls and emails, following up on sales leads and occasionally making cold calls. You will work closely with Account Executives to secure business and maintain positive customer relationships. Inside sales specialists play a crucial role in driving sales and managing customer interactions.
Responsibilities
- Find new customers by following up on leads or making cold calls
- Conduct research on potential customers and maintain customer database and sales records
- Address customer questions and concerns via email, phone, and occasional face-to-face meetings
- Use communication and negotiation skills to close sales
- Achieve Inside Sales KPIs and quotas set by regional management
- Create, amend, update, and review service contracts alongside main contract holders
- Collaborate with pricing and trade teams to ensure pricing and rates are properly updated
- Review operating system menus to assist customers and resolve issues
- Follow through on rate inquiries and new opportunities, ensuring the right parties are involved
- Resolve pending issues to ensure timely conclusion
- Assist with daily reports for Account Executives to ensure no opportunities are lost
- Explain and demonstrate features of services provided to customers
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma (GED) required; BA or BS in business, sales/marketing, global logistics, or maritime preferred but not required
- 1–3 years of experience in ocean shipping, supply-chain management, or global logistics preferred
- Basic understanding of business, sales, and marketing; knowledge of international business and global trade is useful
- Familiarity with ocean shipping (import or export) is extremely helpful
- Sales background and understanding of the sales cycle is essential

Work Environment
- Office environment with moderate noise levels
- Primarily computer-based work
- Occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of up to 20 pounds
- Use of standard office equipment (computer, telephone, fax, copier, printer)
- May require travel for periodic training or local sales calls with Account Executives
Pay
The anticipated starting salary or wage range is provided, with the final offered rate based on individual merit and relative compensation of employees in similar positions.
