Inside Sales Representative

Essential Functions

Aid the Regional Sales Manager by communicating customer forecasts, special needs, order details, pricing, delivery statuses, claims, and market information. Utilize SSAB's automated sales system to manage accounts, plan inventory programs, and interact with customers. Conduct sales calls alongside the Regional Sales Manager, accurately enter orders into the electronic order entry system, and promptly prepare and submit price quotes to customers. Assist in gathering and entering claims into the electronic system, document pricing exceptions and contractual business pieces for approval, report order statuses to customers, and expedite orders if necessary. Collect market information, investigate and approve price discrepancies, and effectively communicate price changes and surcharges to customers. Gather customer feedback and disseminate it to relevant SSAB personnel. Anticipate customer needs and resolve issues proactively. Maintain ongoing dialogue with various SSAB departments (shipping, credit, purchasing, scheduling, and quality). Prepare and submit weekly highlight reports and maintain current customer profiles. Perform office duties including regular attendance.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of sales/customer service experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in using MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
• Strong organizational skills
• High standards of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to develop and maintain strong professional interpersonal relationships with customers and peers
• Regular and reliable attendance

Preferred Qualifications

• Mechanical or manufacturing/sales experience in the steel industry
• Education: Associates degree preferred, Bachelors degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 30 lbs
• Use of hands for typing, holding, and handling objects
• Reaching with hands and arms
• Talking and hearing in person, on the phone, and in group settings
• Vision at near, mid, and far ranges

Position Type and Work Hours

• Full-time, non-exempt, eligible for overtime compensation
• Eight (8) hour day shift, Monday through Friday, occasional overtime may be required
• Office presence required
• Travel for this position is limited
