About the role
You will be a key team member connecting customers with premium products and support for their rental and sales needs. Handle sales inquiries, generate new business leads, and maintain customer relationships while working closely with the sales team and other departments to meet sales targets and provide exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Respond to sales inquiries via phone, email, text, and in-person visits.
- Qualify potential customers by determining their equipment needs and budget.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers to ensure loyalty and repeat business.
- Generate new business leads through targeted marketing campaigns, prospecting, and cold-calling.
- Collaborate with the sales team to provide accurate quotes and proposals to customers.
- Keep up to date on industry trends and equipment knowledge to effectively answer customer questions and provide solutions.
- Demonstrate the operation of equipment and communicate maintenance requirements.
- Create rental agreements, handle payment and contract management.
- Assist customers when picking up purchased or rented equipment and complete machine walk-arounds.
- Maintain proper inventory procedures for inbound and outbound equipment traffic.
- Ensure rental return units are inspected for damage and service department requests are created upon return.
- Call inactive customers and determine if they have any equipment needs.
- Communicate new product offerings, specials, and services.
- Participate in ongoing internal/external training courses and various events, including factory training, and online and instructor-led training.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of sales activity and customer interactions in the CRM system.
- Work closely with other departments, such as service and parts, to ensure customer satisfaction and timely delivery of equipment.
- Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Attend trade shows, conferences, and industry events to network and promote dealership products and services.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or vocational training/certification.
- 1-3 years of experience working in a sales environment in heavy equipment or a similar industry.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with customers.
- Self-motivated and driven to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to attend industry events.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
