Inside Sales Engineer - Chandler, AZ
About the role
The Inside Sales Engineer works collaboratively with account managers and internal teams to grow existing customer relationships, develop new business opportunities, and deliver technical solutions to meet customer needs. This role drives sales, delivers exceptional customer service, and meets or exceeds sales and profitability goals.
Responsibilities
- Generate new and repeat sales and increase sales and average order size by cross-selling, up selling, add-on sales and services as well as offering promotional sale items
- Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability, or specifications, and provide product and technical information in a timely manner
- Proactively recommend correct products and solutions needed by the customer to increase customer satisfaction and improve transaction profitability
- Accurately process customer transactions such as orders, quotes, or returns in IAC's NetSuite CRM/ERP and our manufacturers
- Provide accurate information regarding availability of in-stock items, keep customer and contact records up to date and accurate in NetSuite CRM/ERP
- Follow up with customers to review quotations and ensure we have met all their expectations, and perform ongoing follow ups to resolve any complaints
- Fill requests for catalogs, information, or samples, and monitor scheduled shipment dates to ensure timely delivery and expedite as needed
- Remain current on consumer preferences by attending sales meetings, vendor training, trade shows, or reading trade journals, and educate customers about terminology, features and benefits of products
Requirements
- Associate degree in a technical field, engineering technology, or business-related discipline or 2 years experience in a similar field in lieu of degree
- Product and application experience within instrumentation, process automation, valves, controls, or related industrial technologies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline (preferred)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and CRM/ERP software platforms
- Experience within wholesale distribution environments
- Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Excellent time management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Work environment
This position is primarily a desk-based role but may require occasional standing, walking, and lifting of packages or materials received within the warehouse. Occasional travel for customer visits, training, vendor meetings, and industry events may be required.
