About the role

As an independent wholesale broker, RT Specialty serves as a critical intermediary in the distribution channel between insurance carriers and retail brokers. The Broker Assistant provides operational support to the brokerage team by handling day-to-day tasks, ensuring seamless daily operations, regulatory compliance, and effective communication within the team. This role works closely with brokers to facilitate timely transaction completion through paperwork processing and coordination with other departments.

Location: Full-time role reporting to the RT Downtown Chicago office (540 W Madison Street, 9th Floor, Chicago, IL 60661).

Responsibilities

• Assists in executing and coordinating day-to-day brokerage operations for a large casualty book of business.
• Supports the implementation and improvement of operational procedures.
• Coordinates with brokers to prepare documents, cover letters, and other materials to market renewal business; provides administrative support in filing, printing, and archiving documents.
• Administers and updates new and current client information accurately in all required systems.
• Maintains accurate and organized records of client accounts, transactions, and other relevant documentation; ensures compliance with record-keeping regulations.
• Performs customer service functions by answering broker requests and questions via telephone, email, chat, or in person.
• Contributes to the preparation of compliance reports related to brokerage operations and collaborates across broker and finance teams on business requirements.
• Adheres to regulatory requirements and internal policies; assists in preparing compliance reports.
• Assists in identifying and mitigating operational risks; collaborates with risk management teams to implement controls.
• Supports the Brokerage team with ad hoc tasks and requests.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; Business Administration, Sales, or Risk Management preferred. Related disciplines or commensurate work experience considered.
• Ability to multi-task, communicate effectively, and work in a fast-paced, high-performing team environment.

Qualifications

• Highly Preferred: Active Property & Casualty license and/or willingness to obtain within the first 45 days of employment.
• 1+ years of commercial insurance experience; casualty experience is a major plus.

Pay

The target hourly rate range for this position is $25.00 - $31.25 per hour. The wage range considers factors such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure, certification, business needs, and market demands. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
