Inpatient Registered Nurse - PRN

As a Bluegrass Care Navigators' Hospice Team member, you will be part of a team providing care and support to patients and their families who no longer receive treatments to cure their terminal illness but instead choose care to improve their comfort and quality of life. Our service allows team members to focus on one patient at a time, providing care where the patient calls home—whether that is a house, apartment, nursing home, assisted living facility, or hospital. If a patient’s care needs are too complicated for home care or require a higher level of attention, we provide care at one of our Hospice Care Centers.

About the Role

The Inpatient Hospice Registered Nurse (RN) provides skilled, professional, and compassionate nursing care to patients and their families within the inpatient hospice unit and hospital settings. The RN delivers care in accordance with physician orders, the hospice plan of care, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies. This role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, including symptom management, end-of-life support, and patient/family education.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care to hospice patients in inpatient and hospital settings.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in alignment with the hospice plan of care and physician orders.
• Manage symptoms and provide end-of-life support for patients and their families.
• Deliver patient and family education regarding care and comfort measures.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive, compassionate care.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional (registered) nursing.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse through the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
• Minimum of two (2) years of general nursing experience preferred; hospice, home health, medical-surgical, or critical care experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience in pain management; IV therapy skills preferred.
• Ability to manage emotionally challenging situations with patients and families while respecting diverse lifestyles and beliefs.
• Current CPR certification.
• Self-directed with the ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment.

Schedule

PRN - Sunday-Saturday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM.
