About the role

Temporary Pharmacist supporting complex pharmacy initiatives across multiple locations. The role involves reviewing prescriptions for accuracy, evaluating suitability, providing drug information, counseling patients, monitoring therapy outcomes, and supervising pharmacy staff. Responsibilities span retail/community pharmacy, medical center, and institutional settings, including unit dose dispensing, IV admixtures, outpatient prescriptions, EMR navigation, compounding, and use of automated dispensing devices.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret prescriptions to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Provide information on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
  • Counsel patients on administration, side effects, expected response, storage, and answer related questions.
  • Monitor patients’ health and progress in response to drug therapy.
  • Learn and utilize new pharmacy technologies as the profession evolves.
  • Provide oversight and clinical supervision for pharmacy series and support personnel.
  • Act as shift supervisor when required, under direct or indirect supervision.
  • Perform unit dose dispensing, IV admixtures, outpatient prescription processing, and compounding.
  • Navigate the electronic medical record (EMR) and operate automated dispensing devices.
  • Assess pharmaceutical needs across all age groups, from neonatal to geriatric patients.
  • Follow all established regulations and standards governing pharmacy practice.
  • Participate in acute care surgery, neurology, cardiology, pediatrics, oncology, infusion services, intensive care, general medicine, dialysis, transplant, antimicrobial stewardship, and medication reconciliation.
  • Engage in decentralized clinical functions such as interdisciplinary team rounding, chart reviews, and patient counseling.
  • Oversee centralized clinical functions, including medication checking, dispensing, and IV room operations.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Thorough knowledge of drugs, their actions, and state/local pharmacy regulations.
  • Hospital experience or residency preferred.
  • Active pharmacy license in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy in the state(s) of practice; multi‑state licensure privileges as required.

Pay

Salary Range: $61.00 – $87.50 (hourly)

Schedule

Day shift with flexible scheduling, 40 hours per week.
