Inpatient Occupational Therapist - PRN - Float Pool

Inpatient Float Pool Position, NICU and Adult Experience Strongly Preferred. Must be willing to work at a minimum of 3 medical centers within the HonorHealth network.

The Network Float Pool is a division of HonorHealth and supports inter-campus floating across the following hospitals:

Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, administration, and oversight of evidence-based occupational therapy services provided to individuals with physical disabilities and/or functional limitations. They use specialized skills to promote goals of prevention of dysfunction, restoration of function, and/or reversal of the progression of pathology to enhance quality of movement and daily living skills.

• Implements an individualized treatment plan through skilled, evidence-based therapy techniques, including therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, functional mobility training, activities of daily living training, and modalities as indicated.
• Provides verbal and written instructions to patients, caregivers, and family members.
• Maintains current knowledge of occupational therapy techniques through continuing education, professional journals, and compliance with DNV and Medicare standards.
• Evaluates patients per department policy, demonstrating sound clinical reasoning in synthesizing data and identifying treatment diagnoses.
• Establishes a comprehensive plan of treatment with measurable, functional goals and a defined discharge plan.
• Performs ongoing evaluations of patient responses to treatment and adjusts care as needed.
• Maintains accurate and current documentation, including evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, discharge summaries, and billing within established timeframes.
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to clarify treatment plans and discuss patient status, providing proactive feedback to case managers regarding discharge needs.
• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds, utilizing effective communication to enhance collaborative relationships and achieve optimal outcomes.
• Delegates appropriate patients to occupational therapist assistants, supervises their care, and provides updated treatment plans.
• Acts as a resource for therapy-related issues to assistive personnel and staff from other departments.
• Contributes to departmental needs, process improvements, recruitment, and retention efforts through positive role-modeling and participation in meetings, in-services, and committees.
• Participates in student preceptor and/or mentor programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Occupational Therapy from an AOTA-accredited university (required prior to employment).
• Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Occupational Therapy from an AOTA-accredited university (preferred).
• Six (6) months of recent experience in a network float position (preferred).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
• Current, unrestricted license issued by the Arizona Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners (required prior to employment).

Schedule

• PRN (as needed), Day Shift: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
• Rotating holidays and weekends.
