About the Role
This position involves accurately assigning and abstracting inpatient diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS, ensuring precision and compliance with documentation standards. The role includes overseeing and auditing coding work, promoting documentation improvement, and maintaining high accuracy rates for coding and MS-DRG assignments.
Responsibilities
- Assign and review medical codes from patient records
- Ensure coding accuracy and adherence to documentation guidelines
- Audit work of Level 1 & 2 Coders
- Address clinical and reimbursement issues through professional communication
- Uphold productivity benchmarks and quality standards
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years inpatient coding experience, preferably at a Level I Trauma Center
- Credentials such as CCS, RHIT, or RHIA preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with coding review feedback and coding software is advantageous
- Must meet health screening requirements
- No sponsorship available
