About the role

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to undertake significant and interesting work within the state administration, working on the development of the state security industry; will be able to work in a professional team; will be able to acquire military basic training in a flexible manner, enhancing their understanding of state security issues and NATO's National Battle Staff (NBS) tasks; will be able to comply with social guarantees stipulated by the state administration, ensuring health protection measures are taken; will receive an additional allowance after the first year of employment; monthly salary ranging from 2095 EUR to 2549 EUR (before tax).

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and coordinate Latvia's participation in EU Security Agency forms;
  • Support the evaluation of research projects submitted to the European Security Fund;
  • Develop and coordinate national and cross-border innovation activities (such as hackathons);
  • Organize a master's level support program, including developing a plan and document project proposals and coordinating support for scholarship recipients;
  • Analyze research (e.g., industrial practices) related to security, providing recommendations for the use of civilian science in state security and defense needs;
  • Develop and coordinate cross-border industry informational events.

Requirements

Must meet the requirements of the State Service Act Article 9; meet the requirements of the Civil Service Act Article 7; hold a higher academic degree in political science; have relevant experience in scientific research organization; have relevant experience in drafting documents and legal acts; have a good understanding of the security and innovation sectors in Latvia, the European Union, and NATO, including regulatory documents on scientific research; have good English language skills (to be tested through a proficiency test), as the position involves representing the ministry in various international forums, producing material and documents in English; have good communication and cooperation skills; have interest and knowledge of state security issues, NATO tasks; have good analytical and planning skills, ability to coordinate work, precision in completing tasks.

Qualifications
