Responsibilities
- Oversight of banquet staff in preparation and execution of banquet functions.
- Identification of specific event requirements and assignment of roles to banquet servers.
- Coaching and training banquet servers on event processes to ensure they are prepared to execute flawlessly.
- Supervision of maintenance and cleanliness of all guest and non-guest areas daily.
- Reviewing Banquet Event Orders (BEO) weekly and placing orders for all related products.
- Arranging setup of tables and chairs in the room and arrangements for all food and beverage items.
- Maintaining continuous guest contact to ensure guests' expectations are met and exceeded.
- Scheduling staff based on type of event, skills required, and availability.
- Coordination of staff and culinary teams to ensure successful event execution.
- Proposing and executing creativity in the setup and presentation of event rooms.
- Auditing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for effectiveness and making process improvements as needed.
- Retraining staff as appropriate based on audit results.
- Conducting monthly service standards training and informing the Banquet Manager of any training or personnel performance concerns.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED; degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
- Two (2) years of related banquet experience in an upscale or luxury hotel and/or restaurant/resort is highly desirable.
- Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Knowledge of food and beverage procedures and safety standards.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in fast-paced and changing environments.
- Flexibility to work evening, weekends, and holidays as required for events.
Qualifications
- Standing and walking for long periods of time, sometimes up to 10 hours, including walking up and down flights of stairs.
- Frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 20 pounds.
