About the role

The Dining Room Supervisor oversees “front of house” dining operations to meet Biltmore standards. This role executes and maintains Biltmore’s service and management philosophies, ensures standards are met or exceeded, supervises staff, assists with performance management, and delivers unique, memorable world-class dining experiences. Supervisors serve as "manager on duty" in the absence of the Restaurant Manager and provide general support for the team, department, leadership, and company.

Responsibilities

  • Weekend and holiday availability required; schedule may vary.
  • Daily supervision of operations and staff.
  • Handles escalated guest service recovery; resolves guest complaints to ensure satisfaction according to standards; empowers staff to troubleshoot.
  • Assists with hiring, training, development, scheduling, and performance management of staff; promotes a positive and professional work environment.
  • Performs opening/closing and reporting duties.
  • Facilitates communication between front and back of house to provide seamless service.
  • Maintains current and accurate knowledge of all F&B products/menu items, VIPs, groups, and Estate information.
  • Supports staff in ensuring facilities, service, and experience exceed expectations and align with Biltmore standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; additional education and/or certification(s) preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience in a comparable full-service restaurant; a combination of education/experience may be considered.
  • Ideal candidate will have prior experience in an upscale hotel, resort, or attraction.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering world-class internal/external guest service and proven leadership skills; ability to motivate and develop staff is key.
  • Knowledge of wine and cordials preferred; must be 21 years of age to bartend.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills; must engage, interact, and resolve issues professionally with diplomacy and tact.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and service; ability to prioritize work, multitask, and adapt as required.
  • Proactive with good judgment; problem-solves and troubleshoots effectively.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel; ability to learn Biltmore’s systems, products, and protocols.

Physical Requirements

  • Exert physical effort in transporting 25–50 pounds frequently.
  • Endure various physical movements throughout work areas.
  • Ability to remain ambulatory and in stationary positions throughout the work shift.
  • Must be able to work 10–14 hour shifts as business demands.
  • Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and coworkers to their understanding.
  • Work in an environment that includes:
    • Variable temperature conditions and noise levels
    • Outdoor environments
    • Exposure to fumes, dust, and chemicals

Pay

$19.44/hour (starting pay range).

Schedule

Full-time position working 32+ hours per week; schedule may vary and includes weekends, holidays, and 10–14 hour shifts as business demands.
