About the role

Hosts will courteously greet and escort guests to tables and assist in seating, ensuring Biltmore standards of service.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain flow of seating by section throughout serving period
  • Assist in preparing the restaurant for service and maintain cleanliness of the room
  • Answer the telephone, take reservations, and maintain the reservations scheduling online
  • Monitor guests’ needs and all phases of the operation
  • Greet and acknowledge all arriving guests, escort them to tables, and assist in seating
  • Present menus and extend congenialities in accordance with department guidelines
  • Extend courteous departures as guests leave the restaurant and invite them to return
  • Guide Servers and Dining Room Assistants in table set-up needs
  • Communicate V.I.P. arrivals and special requests to designated personnel
  • Answer restaurant telephone courteously and efficiently per department standards
  • Take, record, and confirm restaurant reservations/cancellations
  • Accommodate all requests for information courteously
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and maintain positive guest relations

Requirements

  • Previous customer/guest service experience strongly preferred
  • Previous food and beverage experience in a full-service restaurant, preferably in an upscale service setting
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing world-class guest service and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to think clearly and quickly in a fast-paced environment and exercise good judgment under pressure
  • Familiarity with reservations software; knowledge of OpenTable helpful
  • Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy
  • Basic math skills and ability to handle cash and credit transactions
  • Ability to be proactive and take initiative where appropriate
  • Present a professional image in appearance and demeanor, handling guest situations consistent with Biltmore standards

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Endure physical movements such as stooping, kneeling, bending, and reaching overhead
  • Ability to remain ambulatory or in a stationary position throughout the work shift
  • Exposure to fumes, dust, and chemicals
  • Ability to work indoors and outside in variable temperature conditions and noise levels

Pay

Starting pay range begins at $16.32/hour, based on qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

Schedule

  • Part-time position working about 20 hours per week (between 40-999 hours per year)
  • Schedule: 6:15 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Weekend and holiday availability required
