About the role

Under general supervision, provide color matching, formulating, and small batch blending support on-site at the customer location. Maintain detailed production and quality control records, support the customer’s schedule through production coordination, and deliver strong press-side technical service, troubleshooting, and consistent technical reporting.

Responsibilities

• Produce and quality-control inks to ensure they meet or exceed customer specifications; maintain detailed production and QC records
• Perform color matching and formulation
• Identify rework opportunities based on review of batch tickets
• Maintain monthly and weekly reporting to the Customer Technical Service (CTS) and Sales Organization
• Work closely with the customer and CTS Representative on development projects and process improvement initiatives
• Assist other departments or areas as requested by management or supervisor
• Participate in training and development activities deemed necessary by management
• Match colors and formulate ink to customer specification with economical use of color base combinations
• Select bases and vehicles so that formulated inks meet or exceed customer needs regarding color, fade resistance, odor, rub resistance, coating compatibility, printing methods, viscosity, tack, grind, etc.
• Prepare formulas, supervise and participate in weighing ingredients, mixing, and milling all inks produced on-site
• Perform standard quality control tests to ensure inks meet or exceed customer specifications
• Prepare draw-downs and displays for color comparisons
