Injection Molding Technician I (1st shift)

About the role

This position is primarily responsible for the complete set-ups and changeovers of injection molding machines. Key Responsibilities include:

  • Experience and proficiency in operating, set-up and changeover of both hydraulic and electric injection molding machines, as well as all related secondary equipment (i.e., material pumps, chillers, and temperature control units).
  • Material management – the scanning of material in/out of MRB system when pulled and then the return of material to inventory.
  • Establish the production process using saved press programs and the standard listed on the traveler.
  • Use forms and work instructions on the computer.
  • Understand and use travelers, blueprints, engineering specifications, Standard Operator Procedures (SOP) as required to perform set-ups and correct problems following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Meet turnaround time goal for set-up.
  • Understand and operate all press controls and operator interfaces.
  • Maintain accurate written records and/or use of MES system as required for documentation.
  • Maintain effective communication across shifts and other team members to coordinate work assignments, set expectations, support production goals, and promote teamwork and operational awareness.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience as a process set-up technician in the field with a strong mechanical aptitude required.
  • Knowledge of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electronics.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate and percentage to interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently that support the productions environment.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out assignments or request assistance when required.
  • Ability to read, write and speak fluent English.

Qualifications

Good To Have:

  • A two-year technical/trade school or specialized in technical skills (i.e., HVAC, Electrical, etc.).

Skills

Skills required for this position include:

  • Proficiency in operating, set-up and changeover of both hydraulic and electric injection molding machines.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Understanding of mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electronics.
  • Ability to manage material in/out of MRB system.

Pay

Salary Range: $20.94 - $29.31 / hour
