Injection Molding Technician (3rd Shift)

Injection Molding Operations and Set Up

This role involves setting up, running, and monitoring injection molding machines, and auxiliary molding equipment (grinders, chillers, loaders, robots etc) within a custom injection molding and automation environment. This includes safely removing and setting up molds in injection molding machines, monitoring and running auxiliary equipment, and troubleshooting and making adjustments to maintain production and quality requirements.

Process Troubleshooting and Maintenance

Performs preventative maintenance on injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and manufacturing cell components in accordance with established schedules. Troubleshoots and repairs equipment, communicates actions and problem resolution to the next shift, performs routine checks on equipment, documents status, and completes necessary reports. Works from specifications, blueprint drawings, prints, and other technical documentation. Tears down, replaces defective component units and parts, such as injection molding machine, screw/barrels, check ring and nozzles, bearings, motors, servo motors, PLC's, gears, electronic drives, clutches, breaks, belts, chains, and electrical parts.

Safety and Compliance

Moves, installs, and adjusts appliances, fixtures, motors, and other electrical/mechanical equipment for safety. Requests assistance from others for any problems beyond area of knowledge or expertise. Uses a variety of hand and power tools. Follows detailed instructions from others or written format. Adheres to siffron Des Plaines safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures. Actively speaks up and reports safety, environmental, or quality concerns.

Additional Responsibilities

Verifies parts and maintenance inventory and orders replacement parts as needed. Assists assembly operators, as needed. Assists in handling material activities, when required. Performs quality audits and inspections. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in setting up and running injection molding machines
• Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
• Experience working some maintenance at a manufacturing facility

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend work orders
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work well with others or in an individual capacity
• Ability to read blueprints
• Ability to work different shifts depending on what is required, preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively
• Able to work in a production environment
• Able to stand, bend, and/or stoop
• Able to walk, stand, and otherwise perform job functions on concrete floors with safety boots/shoes
• Able to work in manufacturing environment occasionally being exposed to dust, odors, fumes, and noise
• Able to work in extreme hot and cold weather
