Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, document, and maintain injection molding processes.
- Establish process windows using scientific molding principles.
- Lead mold trials, process development, sampling, validation, and production launches.
- Troubleshoot molding defects and identify root causes related to machines, molds, materials, and processes.
- Reduce scrap, downtime, cycle times, and process variability.
- Optimize molding processes while maintaining quality and equipment reliability.
- Analyze process data, production metrics, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Support IQ/OQ/PQ validations, PFMEA, control plans, capability studies, DOE, and corrective actions.
- Create and maintain process documentation, setup sheets, and troubleshooting guides.
- Train and mentor technicians and production personnel.
- Collaborate with Quality, Production, Tooling, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
Requirements
- 3-5+ years of injection molding process engineering or process development experience.
- Strong knowledge of thermoplastic materials, mold design, hot runners, cooling systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting complex molding and tooling issues.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic, electric, or hybrid injection molding machines.
- Understanding of SPC, process capability, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving.
- Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Plastics Technology, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Scientific molding training (RJG, Paulson, AIM, or equivalent).
- Experience with RJG eDART or cavity pressure monitoring systems.
- Blow molding experience (extrusion, injection, or stretch blow molding).
- Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (medical, aerospace, automotive).
- Familiarity with IQMS/DELMIAWorks, automation, robotics, and vision systems.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
