Job Purpose
Set-up, start-up for production, change-over and maintain molding machines, molds, material and their processes to produce quality products for internal and external customers in a safe and productive manner.
What You Will Do
- Set-up and maintain production of injection molding machines, tooling, and processes.
- Cycle development for inherited, modified, or new tooling.
- Inspect molded components to confirm quality.
- Establish and maintain best practices for setup, preventative maintenance and storage of molds.
- Develop, and sustain mold-specific setup and equipment setup processes to include gantry robot program development and or optimization.
- Mentor and train other personnel on injection molding, and the auxiliary processes.
- Troubleshoot the manufacturing process to diagnose and resolve anticipated or actual manufacturing problems that may affect product quality.
- Disassemble, inspect, clean, and maintain molds and tooling according to schedule.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area.
- Advise team on mold repair and or enhancement strategy.
- Perform minor machine maintenance as required.
- Read and understand operation layouts and blueprints.
- Maintain quality of work as required and report any discrepancies.
- Operate and maintain auxiliary equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A technical degree or diploma in related field or equivalent experience (8 years of injection molding experience).
- 4 years of experience as a Setup Technician.
- 3 years of experience in a role requiring mold maintenance tasks.
- 7 years of experience operating injection molding equipment.
- Ability to set-up and operate assigned equipment.
- Experience processing new tooling and providing feedback during development and prove out with an emphasis on process optimization.
- Experience in development and streamlining mold change over and work cell layout including auxiliary equipment.
- Ability to work in a continuous improvement environment by implementing improvements regularly.
- Demonstrated skill and ability to use precision measuring equipment.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively understand and communicate technical information in both verbal and written form.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Ability to stand/sit/walk, for up to eight hours per day.
- Frequent, repetitive elbow movements.
- Reaching, grasping, gripping and fine manipulation with hands is required.
- Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, lift, and/or load up to 40 pounds.
- Demonstrated personal computer skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Completion of Math for Manufacturing and Basic Blueprint Reading for Manufacturing.
- Training and experience using Scientific Molding practices.
- Experience processing a wide range of different materials and additives.
- Experience setting up and processing; hydraulic core pull, hot runner, cam, 3 plate, rack & pinion molds.
- Experience setting up and advanced processing; overmolding, 2-shot molding, in-mold decorating.
- Experience proving-out new tooling.
- Track record of continuous improvement.
- Prior machine tool operation skills.
Pay
The base pay range for this position is $38.08 - $40.58 per hour, exclusive of fringe benefits or other compensation.
