Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and optimize manufacturing processes to meet safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing processes, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct direct labor studies using accepted engineering practices to establish labor standards, workstation layouts, and setup methods.
- Analyze current manufacturing methods and identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, material flow, and cost efficiency.
- Define tooling and fixturing requirements and collaborate with tooling designers to develop or procure new solutions.
- Identify areas of unnecessary cost and research methods for cost reduction and work cell optimization.
- Assist in the development, evaluation, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Review product and process designs and provide recommendations to improve manufacturability, quality, and cost.
- Develop capital equipment justifications and provide recommendations for capital expenditures.
- Support budgeting activities and evaluate make-versus-buy decisions for new and existing products.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production or industrial environment.
- Experience leading and managing engineering or technical manufacturing employees, including setting expectations, coaching performance, and supporting development.
- Experience conducting labor studies and establishing manufacturing standards and workstation layouts.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, fixturing, and equipment support.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with PC-based tools used for documentation, analysis, and reporting.
- Certification in injection molding (e.g. Master Molder) preferred but not required.
