Infusion Nurse

Qualification Requirements

  • Nursing Degree from an accredited college or IV certification & experience in central line care and management
  • Current state RN license required with a minimum of two years nursing RN license in other states a plus
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Experience with medical terminology
  • Home care, critical care, emergency nursing, AIC or hospital discharge planning
  • Incumbent should have some experience in staffing and should be able to demonstrate the ability to multi-task as well as good communicative and interpersonal skills
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Willing to travel to see patients in the homes, and in other health care settings

Qualifications Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Registered Nurse Degree and Licensed
  • CPR certification required
  • Experience with medical terminology is preferred

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the basic knowledge and judgment to utilize the nursing process to schedule nursing visits in accordance with RX’s and established protocols
  • Captures SOC and ongoing nursing visits and confirms scheduled visits with both patient and Nursing Agency/RN
  • Sends schedule via email to team
  • Follows up on and enters Therapy Admin reports and emails to team
  • Reviews all nurses’ notes for content and accuracy and completion without omitting necessary information such as drugs given, drug dosing and time of administration
  • Continually communicates with families, supervisors and field personnel, agencies regarding problems and/or special needs of both the patient
  • Communicates all problems and reportable situations to the referring MD and appropriate MD office administrator and to LUX Infusion nursing
  • Communicates patient/employee information to answering services when needed
  • Reads and understands company compliance paperwork
  • Performs all duties in accordance with all applicable federal and state laws and with the highest ethical standards
  • Coordinates staffing in a timely manner while also adhering to confidentiality and ethics as discussed in the compliance program
  • Inserts intravenous cannulas; administers prescribed intravenous solutions, medications; monitors & maintains infusion sites & system; evaluates responses to prescribed therapy
  • Teaches patients & caregivers to perform & monitor administration of Home Infusion
  • Coordinates schedule of patient visits & phone calls
  • Works in patients' place
  • Drives as assigned within

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements

  • Provides professional nursing care within the department
  • Coordinates care planning with other disciplines
  • Provides care that meets the psychosocial, physical general aspects of care
  • Determines priorities of care based on physical psychosocial needs of patients, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system
  • Communicates regarding changes in patient status, symptomatology, and results of diagnostic studies
  • Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment
  • Excellent verbal skills and Good written skills
  • Must be able to develop caring relationships with their patients and treat them with respect
  • Possess medical-surgical experience or knowledge in phlebotomy and venous access, both of which deal with the collection of blood
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as on a team
  • Teaches the patient how to properly care for their IV or PICC line and be able to communicate with patients clearly while giving instructions
  • Ability to work under high levels of stress, know how to handle critical situations in the workplace
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Communication Skills: Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; Responds well to questions; Demonstrates group presentation skills; Participates in meetings.
  • Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; Edits work for spelling and grammar; Varies writing style to meet needs; Presents numerical data effectively;
  • Computer Skills: Become and remain proficient is all programs necessary for execution of position.

Pay Range/Rate

$55 - $65 USD

Other Requirements

  • Participate annually in required legal and ethical compliance training
  • Consistently act in compliance with LUX Infusion’s legal, ethical, and compliance policies
  • Adhere to all standards and procedures outlined in the LUX Infusion Compliance Manual
  • Refrain from any behavior that could be considered unethical or unlawful
