Infrastructure Specialist 2
About the role
As an Infrastructure Specialist 2, you will play a key role in supporting and enhancing the organization’s technology infrastructure across multiple domains. This position is hands on, fast paced, and often requires balancing proactive system management with timely issue resolution. The role may require being on-call 24/7, carrying and responding to a pager or cell phone for off‑hours alerts, some travel (provide own transportation unless using a state vehicle), and balancing independent tasks with collaboration across teams, vendors, and customers. Work is performed on‑site daily at DCY’s office space (Children&Youth N. High Complex, Franklin County, Columbus, OH). Core hours are Mon‑Fri 8:00 am‑5:00 pm, with flexibility to start as early as 7:00 am or as late as 9:00 am with supervisory approval.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, monitor, and maintain multiple technology platforms and systems.
- Administer and manage contractor/vendor access, ensuring devices are connected and operating securely.
- Diagnose, analyze, and resolve technical issues for customers across several infrastructure domains.
- Create, maintain, and organize documentation to support system operations and knowledge sharing.
- Review and respond to enterprise security system alerts (e.g., antivirus, spam filtering), following agency policies and procedures.
- Work with various hardware and software platforms, ensuring compatibility and smooth integration.
- Provide informal mentorship and guidance to peers and junior staff, answering questions and offering support through conversation, observation, or documentation.
- Perform duties aligned with lower level infrastructure roles as needed, demonstrating flexibility and broad competency.
Requirements
One of the following combinations of experience and education:
- 48 months combined work experience in installing, monitoring/maintaining, configuring, upgrading, and/or administering/operating multiple technology domains, including 12 months in the primary technology specified by the agency.
- Completion of an associate core program in computer science or information systems plus 30 months combined work experience in the same domains, including 12 months in the primary technology.
- Completion of an undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems plus 24 months combined work experience in the same domains, including 12 months in the primary technology.
- Equivalent of the minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
