About the role
The Senior Azure Data Engineer creates the overall structure and workflow of a software solution and is responsible for leading and/or handling the development of one to multiple components. The Senior Azure Data Engineer will work with an Architect and Manager to build the appropriate solution to support the application. The Senior Azure Data Engineer works in an Agile team in a multi-technology environment and contributes to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of business applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory.
- Build and optimize data solutions using Azure SQL / SQL Server and related Azure data services.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workloads using Azure DevOps or similar tools.
- Perform data modeling to support analytics, reporting, and downstream consumption.
- Ensure data quality, performance, scalability, and reliability across pipelines.
- Collaborate with architects, analysts, and application teams to integrate data solutions.
- Support deployments, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support activities.
- Follow enterprise security, governance, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with Business Stakeholders, Business Analysts and other IT groups to help define and recommend software solutions that are scalable, maintainable and efficient to achieve/exceed the expectations of the business unit.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory.
- Solid experience with SQL and relational databases (Azure SQL / SQL Server).
- Experience working in Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (dimensional and relational).
- Experience with version control and Agile delivery practices.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Strong organization/time management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to grasp and apply new information quickly.
- Ability to work/motivate team members as well as being able to work independently.

Preferred Skills
- Exposure to other Azure data services (Synapse, Databricks, Data Lake).
- Experience with stream data using Azure Event Hubs.
- Experience supporting analytics or reporting platforms and building dashboards using PowerBI.
- Familiarity with data governance and data quality frameworks.
Qualifications
- College degree preferred, high school diploma required.
- 3+ years of experience using the tools listed above.

Schedule
